About

Hi and a very warm welcome to Nayak’s Kitchen.

I am Shraddha Nayak from Goa; the chef, recipe developer, photographer and designer of this blog. This blog was started to share and document recipes tried and tested by me over the years. Over the coming days, many recipes will be posted from different cuisines like Goan, Maharashtrian, South Indian, North Indian etc.

Only recipes tried and tested by me are shared on my blog. Most of the recipes are posted with step-by-step photos and instructions. This will help you to understand the recipe better at every step. Also a lot of notes, tips and tricks are given wherever required.

Nayak’s Kitchen includes both veg and non-veg recipes. Indian cuisine is vast and diverse. A single recipe will have multiple variations. It differs even from region to region.

OUR MOTTO

To help people learn cooking or improve their existing culinary skills – one recipe at a time. 😀🥣

I always loved to recreate recipes at home. The primary reason being that you can eat healthy food and also enjoy different delicacies. Cooking at home has its own advantages. We can use good quality and fresh ingredients, good-quality oil and most importantly my food is free from preservatives, food colours, MSG etc. which are very detrimental to health. Even if we do eat junk or oily food once in a while, preparing it at home gives me a sense of total control over what I am feeding my family.

Recipes at Nayak’s Kitchen are adapted to suit my family’s taste and preference. So feel free to experiment around my recipes to suit your taste buds.

COOKING -An Art Or Science?

According to me..Both. Why is it that some people are better cooks than others? A good cook can just look at a dish and tell whether it is done or not. He/She will not measure salt and add. Also, a good cook just eyeballs the ingredients. Also presenting food aesthetically is an art. That is the reason eating out in restaurants is appealing because food is aesthetically presented and visually appealing. Cooking is an art because it is a rendezvous between aroma, flavours and different hues.

Invariably, it is a science because unless you know the proper methodology of preparing a recipe, you cannot get the perfect outcome. For example, when you bake a cake the science behind it matters. The quantity of ingredients, the order of steps, the temperature you bake the cake, all of that matters.

So once again a big thank you for visiting Nayak’s Kitchen. Come and experience food and the joy of cooking from the comfort of your home! You can reach out to me at nayakskitchen2019@gmail.com
